First lady Melania Trump's city hall meeting Tuesday about The opiate-addiction crisis is set for the legendary venue of the International Theater at Westgate Las Vegas.
If this setting sounds momentous, it's probably because it's the venue where musical greats such as Elvis Presley made history from 1969-1976, where Barry Manilow now performs, and Wayne Newton (a.k.a. - Mr. Las Vegas) has made occasional appearances, which will now include him joining the first lady on a panel hosted by conservative political commentator Eric Bolling.
Westgate Resorts owner David Siegel and his wife, Jackie, will make an appearance as well.
The event begins at 1 p.m. with doors opening at 11 a.m. -- This event is open to the public and does not cost anything to attend, though availability will be on a first-come, first-served basis. All ages are welcome to attend this discussion.
The meeting is the third installment in a brief tour to promote Trump's Three-tiered "Be Best" campaign. On Monday she visits Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Seattle before her arrival at this venue in Las Vegas.
The Siegels are particularly passionate about drug addiction and substance abuse. In June 2015, the couple's 18-year-old daughter, Victoria "Rikki" Siegel, passed away of a drug overdose. The tragedy motivated the couple to encourage causes that actively fight drug abuse and empower the public to make better choices. They have recently released the book “Victoria’s Voice: Our Daughter’s Dying Wish to Share Her Diary and Save Lives,” which is a published version of Victoria’s diary. The book is meant to offer a stark account of the mindset of a teen in the grips of drug and alcohol abuse.
In Tuesday's city hall forum, the first lady will make some opening comments, talk to Bolling about her "Be Best" initiative and also field questions on social media. The talk will be to be streamed at 4 p.m. Pacific Time on Sinclair Broadcast networks and it will also be broadcast on the company's affiliates around the country on Saturday and Sunday.
