About 30 minutes in the air. Bimini is very close to South Florida, so a direct flight from Miami to Bimini is typically under an hour including takeoff and landing. You’ll be stepping onto the island roughly half an hour after departing Miami.

South Bimini Airport (BIM) is the destination for flights from Florida. If you fly from Miami or via Fort Lauderdale, you will arrive on South Bimini Island. From there, it’s a quick taxi or water shuttle to North Bimini, where the main resort area and many hotels are located (including Westgate Bimini Bay).

Yes. All U.S. travelers must have a valid passport when flying to Bimini, as it is an international flight to The Bahamas. Airline staff will verify your passport at check-in, and you’ll clear Bahamian customs & immigration upon arrival in Bimini.

There are no major commercial airlines flying nonstop from Fort Lauderdale to Bimini at this time. However, Fort Lauderdale-based options do exist: Tropic Ocean Airways runs seaplane flights (see our Seaplane page), and you can also take a connecting flight via Miami or charter a small plane.
