Universal Orlando Mardi Gras Artist Profiles:
A multi-Platinum selling recording artist, Andy Grammer is best known for such hits as “Keep Your Head Up,” “Fine By Me,” “Honey, I’m Good” (which peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100) and “Good to Be Alive (Hallelujah).” In 2017, Grammer released his third studio album, The Good Parts, which includes the popular singles “Fresh Eyes,” “Smoke Clears” and “Give Love” (featuring rapper LunchMoney Lewis). In his official website bio, Grammer states, “I’m continually trying to broaden the spectrum of which colors I can paint with … And I think being as honest as possible lets you use contrast – pushing boundaries and being self-deprecating allows you to also go for the sweeter things.” Grammer’s previous two studio albums are Andy Grammer (2011) and Magazines or Novels (2014).
Seattle rapper Macklemore (AKA Benjamin Hammond Haggerty) is best known for his collaborations with producer Ryan Lewis as Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. In 2013, the duo’s single “Thrift Shop” reached No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Their follow-up single, “Can’t Hold Us,” also peaked at No. 1. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis captured four Grammy Awards in 2014 for “Best New Artist,” “Best Rap Album” (The Heist), Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance (“Thrift Shop”). In 2017, Macklemore released his second solo album, Gemini, which features the popular singles “Glorious,” “Marmalade” and “Good Old Days.” Macklemore has performed on many TV shows, including Ellen, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and even an MTV special with then-President Barack Obama.
Formed in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1990, 311 offers a unique blend of rock, rap, reggae and funk. The band first hit it big with their self-titled 1995 album, which contains the hit singles “Down” and “All Mixed Up.” 311’s next three albums – Transistor (1997), Soundsystem (1999) and From Chaos (2001) – proved equally popular. In 2017, 311 released their twelfth studio album, Mosaic, which made its debut at No. 6 on the Billboard Top 200 and includes the popular singles “Too Late,” “Perfect Mistake” and “Til the City’s on Fire.” The band features Nick Hexum, Doug “SA” Martinez, Aaron “P-Nut” Wills, Tim Mahoney and Chad Sexton. By the way, 311 reportedly derives from the Omaha police code for indecent exposure (one of the band members was allegedly cited for skinny dipping back in the day!).
The eleventh season winner of American Idol in 2012, Phillip Phillips released his debut, Platinum-selling album, The World from the Side of the Moon that same year. The album ended up spawning two massive hits, the five-time Platinum-certified “Home” (the all-time bestselling song from American Idol) and the Platinum-certified “Gone, Gone, Gone.” Phillips’ second studio album, Behind the Light (2014), featured another hit, the folk-rock style “Raging Fire.” In January 2018, Phillips released his third studio album, Collateral, along with two singles: “Miles” and “Magnetic.”
A South Florida native, Jason Derulo (AKA Jason Joel Desrouleaux) has sold more than 30 million singles since making his solo recording debut in 2009. Derulo has achieved 11 Platinum-certified singles, including “Watcha Say,” “Talk Dirty” (featuring 2 Chainz), “Want to Want Me,” “Ridin’ Solo,” “Trumpets,” “Wiggle” (featuring Snoop Dogg), “Don’t Wanna Go Home,” “It Girl” and “In My Head.” His 2017 single, “Swalla,” which features Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign, has over 300 million views on YouTube. Fitz and the Tantrums
Los Angeles-based indie pop and neo soul band Fitz and the Tantrums have released three studio albums since their formation in 2008: Pickin’ Up the Pieces (2010), More Than Just a Dream (2013, which features the Platinum-certified singles “The Walker” and “Out of My League”) and Fitz and the Tantrums (2016), which includes the Platinum-certified “HandClap,” their biggest hit to date. One of the hottest live acts in the country, Fitz and the Tantrums are known for their “explosive no-holds barred live shows,” according to the band’s official website. The band features Michael “Fitz” Fitzpatrick, Noelle Scaggs, Joe Karnes, James King, Jeremy Ruzumna and John Wicks.

Miami-based Fifth Harmony has achieved an impressive array of achievements since making their debut in 2012 (finishing third on The X Factor) such as four MTV Video Music Awards, three MTV Europe Music Awards, an American Music Award, four iHeartRadio Music Awards, a Billboard Women in Music Award and six Teen Choice Awards. Fifth Harmony’s current lineup consists of Ally Brooke, Normani, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui (Camila Cabello departed from the group in 2016). The band’s self-titled third studio album was released in 2017 and features the singles “Down,” “Angel,” “He Like That” and “Deliver.”
Known for her multi-Platinum hit “Bang Bang” (which had 1 billion views on YouTube), as well as the hits “Domino” and “Price Tag,” U.K. singer-songwriter Jessie J (AKA Jessica Ellen Cornish) has sold more than 3 million albums worldwide, as well as 20 million singles. Jessie J has released three studio albums – Who You Are (2011, which charted at No. 2 in the U.K.), Alive (2013) and Sweet Talker (2014) – with a fourth on the way in 2018 titled R.O.S.E. She performed at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
