Westgate Foundation to Award More than $1 Million in 2020

Dec 09, 2019

Orlando, Fla. – Dec. 9, 2019 – Totaling $1,122,500, Westgate Foundation awarded grants to 41 nonprofits in Central Florida and 33 additional organizations in its resort markets across the United States. Each recipient shares a strong tie to Westgate’s mission of Strong Families | Strong Workforce with a specific emphasis on addressing the issues of homelessness, domestic violence and education.

Bakari Burns, Executive Director of Health Care Center for the Homeless, and the City of Orlando’s newest commissioner, provided the welcome and set the tone for the high-energy event, themed “Everyday Heroes.”

“Westgate’s mission of Strong Families | Strong Workforce is rooted in our principles of entrepreneurialism and generosity,” said David Siegel, Founder and CEO of Westgate Resorts. “We’ve made it our priority to care for others by extending hospitality to those who live in the many communities across the country that Westgate calls home.”

The Foundation added four new grantees to its 2020 roster, including Adult Literacy League; CareerSource Central Florida; Early Learning Coalition of Central Florida; and Find, Feed and Restore.

Below are some of the other 2020 grant recipients from Central Florida:

  • Second Harvest Foodbank for its Culinary Training Program
  • United Against Poverty for its Success Employment Training Program
  • Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida for its Career Development Program at the Cocoa Beach branch
  • LIFT Orlando for its Orlando Services Center
  • The Holocaust Center for its Stand Up to Bullying program in Orlando middle schools

    About the Westgate Foundation

Celebrating its 19th year, the Westgate Foundation is committed to investing in Westgate’s resort communities and team members by partnering with nonprofits equally committed to our mission of Strong Families | Strong Workforce: If families are equipped to break through barriers such as homelessness, domestic violence, gaps in education or returning to the workforce after military service, then they keep working or quickly return to work…paving their own path to self-sufficiency and lifelong success. A strong workforce means thriving communities where people want to live and vacation. The Foundation supports this mission through grant-making, advocacy and volunteerism in Westgate’s resort communities nationwide and grants more than $1 million annually.
