20 Las Vegas Bars You've Never Heard Of

“A little bit of this town goes a very long way.” – Hunter S. Thompson

In the minds of most people, Las Vegas is both the “Entertainment Capital of the World and the “Gambling Capital of the World,” and rightfully so on both counts. The sparkling city in the desert has earned this reputation by establishing a selection of world-class hotels, gambling establishments and tournaments over the years, along with amazing live entertainment venues for all tastes. However, cocktail artistry is actually Las Vegas’ most well-kept secret.

Most people don’t realize this, but Las Vegas boasts more bars and talented mixologists per square mile than anywhere else in the world. From mid-century modern gentlemen-style bars to a crystal chandelier mixology temple spread over three levels, there’s no shortage of awe-inspiring institutions for cocktail lovers to enjoy. In fact, U.S. News & World Report has placed Las Vegas No. 1 on its list of the “Best Nightlife Cities in the United States” – nothing that “while you may not want to go as far as to reenact The Hangover, you certainly don’t want to leave without experiencing a bit of ‘Viva Las Vegas.’”

Best Las Vegas Bars

In case you didn’t know, Las Vegas is one of the best places in the world to enjoy a cocktail. That’s because it’s one of the few places where you can get unique, vintage-style cocktails mixed in with modern flair and exotic flavors from all around the world.

Mixologists here really go all-out and the results are nothing short of impressive. If you’re planning a long-awaited excursion to Las Vegas in the near future, be sure to check out the following bars whenever the urge to quench your thirst kicks in and you want to party all night long or simply relax, unwind and enjoy your favorite libation in a laid-back cocktail lounge. Here are 20 Las Vegas bars you’ve never heard of, but should definitely check out during your next visit to Sin City:

The International Bar - Westgate Las Vegas

1 | The International Bar | As (possibly) the most popular bar in Las Vegas, The International Bar offers patrons their favorite cocktails and beers, as well as an endless digital treasure trove of games at the bar, comfortable seating, and oversized screens to view favorite sporting events, all while fans and foxes mingle enjoying signature drinks such as the world-famous Crushed Velvet, just steps away from Las Vegas' largest SportsBook, The Westgate SuperBook! Whatever your poison, it's GAME ON at The International Bar at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino!

2 | Classic Jewel | The Classic Jewel is a Las Vegas lounge that truly earns and deserves the distinction of being “trendy.” First of all, it’s ideally located in a popular luxury high-rise known as Juhl and takes on a 1950’s décor style that reminds us of that era’s notable drinking culture. The setting is intimate and elegant with comfortable seating that’ll entice you to spend the whole night enjoying the art of conversation and live entertainment. The classic cocktails offered at Classic Jewel are crafted from ages-old family recipes that have been collected by mixologists over centuries. Aside from well-known favorites such as the Moscow Mule, expect to acquaint yourself with new favorites like the Hotel Nacional, which is made with white rum, lime, pineapple and apricot brandy. The Mexican Firing Squad is another honorable mention made from Blanco Tequila, lime, seltzer, Angostura and Grenadine.

3 | The Dorsey | A simply amazing Las Vegas nightlife experience, The Dorsey is elegantly decked out in sophisticated design elements that make you feel amazing. However, this feeling of elevation is truly cemented by the bar’s diverse selection of drinks, which include champagne and white wine that’s served by the bottle or glass, depending on your preferences. The drink menu is divided into different categories including Shorties and Bubbly, Conversation Pieces, as well as Light and Bright. The Penicillin is a popular brew that combines scotch, honey, ginger and lemon (simple yet effective and topped with an Islay float). Trust us when we say that you could spend a whole week coming to this bar every night and not try all of the different cocktail combinations – the menu is simply that vast! If you’re traveling with friends though, be sure to try the punch bowls. They’re always a hit!

4 | Camden Cocktail Lounge | Designed like a formal library, the Camden is an ode to old-school luxury and comforts, yet houses a collection of lethal if not creative, cocktail combinations. Guests are greeted with a bookcase door that serves up plenty of intrigue in preparation for what is to be an exciting night full of liquid surprises. The entire lounge is decorated in the same library-chic style that makes you forget that you’re in Vegas until you get to the bar area. Its bronze accents and diverse drink menu harkens back to the traditional glamour of its location. Speaking of a diverse menu, expect such resplendent creations as the Fresh and Easy, which consists of a Bombay Sapphire gin base mixed with elderflower tonic, lime juice, mint and cucumber. The Camden Sour is a favorite with its combination of Bulleit 95 Rye, egg white, Zinfandel port, lemon and orgeat. Or you could explore the Frenchy, which combines champagne, lemon, Absolut Elyx vodka, cantaloupe and orgeat.

6 | Downtown Cocktail Room | Ideally located in hip and happening downtown Las Vegas, the Cocktail Room serves up an intimate and cozy vibe with dim lighting, comfortable leather seats, an eclectic music selection and minimalist art. As such, the bar draws an equally eclectic and interesting crowd from all walks of life who congregate here to enjoy a more laid-back vibe away from the bustle and lights that Vegas is famous for. However, where this bar really shines in our perspective is in its selection of unique cocktails. The seasonal menu means that there’s always something new to look forward to and so far the bar has created more than 40 menus since its inception. Some of the creations that will go down in history include the Watermelon Cooler, which is perfect for summer with its unique blend of watermelon, vodka, lime and cucumber. In addition the Apple Pie is perfect for fall as it combines bourbon, cinnamon, caramel and apple.

7 | Juniper Cocktail Lounge | A gin-lover’s paradise, Juniper Cocktail Lounge houses the largest assortment of gin in the whole of Las Vegas. Of course, this makes sense considering that the word Juniper is the name of the berries used to create the distinctive taste and aroma of gin. Juniper is also the place to go if you want access to the best gin brands in the world. The cocktails here are handmade from fresh ingredients and some of the best gins in the world, blended together to create unique libations like True to the Roots, which consists of Spring 44 gin, orange, fresh lime and clover honey. Also look forward to the Maple Old Fashioned, which is crafted from White Pig 10-year Rye Whiskey, Angostura Bitters and authentic maple syrup. Needless to say, there are so many drinks to choose from that it might be difficult to decide which one to try out first.

Its setting is characterized by cozy nooks and nostalgic beverages such as mai tais that comfort the soul. The walls are lined with mirrors to echo the bubbling fire pit, making for a warm ambiance. The flat-screen TVs peppered throughout are always playing one Vegas classic or another. When taken together, these elements, along with the purple and neon setup, make this one of the most romantic spots in all of Las Vegas. Perhaps that’s why it has been highlighted in films over the years – ranging from the classic like Casino to the campy such as Showgirls.

You’ll find a lot of unique cocktails here to tickle your fancy such as the Cucumber & Elderflower Daiquiri, which is made from white rum, elderflower, cucumber and fresh lime, or the Disgruntled Mai Tai, which contains two rums, Underberg, orgeat, Curacao, fresh lime and Aperol. 19 | Herbs & Rye | Consistently voted one of the best bars in Las Vegas by numerous publications, to diminish Herbs & Rye as just another “drinking spot” is to do it an unforgivable disservice.
